The 1989–1990 Belgian UFO Wave involved thousands of reports of silent, triangular crafts with bright corner lights, peaking with an F-16 interception on March 30–31, 1990. The most famous civilian evidence was the Petit-Rechain photograph, which depicted a dark triangle with three lights.
However, the photograph’s authenticity is disputed: in 2011, the photographer Patrick Maréchal confessed it was a hoax made from styrofoam and lights. Despite this, the wave remains significant due to radar data, military testimony, and over 13,500 witness reports that the Belgian Ministry of Defense officially classified as unidentified
