The Roswell debris field, located on the Foster Ranch approximately 75 miles northwest of Roswell, New Mexico, was the site where rancher Mack Brazel discovered scattered wreckage in early July 1947. Eyewitnesses, including Major Jesse Marcel who led the recovery, described the debris as a long, narrow field stretching three-quarters of a mile long and several hundred feet wide, containing materials such as tough, flexible foil, lightweight "balsa-like" sticks with hieroglyphics, and rubbery fragments.
