On August 30, 1951, Texas Technological College freshman Carl Hart Jr. photographed formations of luminous lights over Lubbock, Texas using a 35mm camera. Hart reported making five exposures. Four photographs were subsequently obtained by Air Force investigators and examined as part of the Project Blue Book investigation. The surviving photographs show formations of bright points arranged in V-shaped or double-V patterns. The photographs were subjected to technical examination by Air Technical Intelligence Center personnel at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
