The original McMinnville UFO negatives, taken by Paul Trent on May 11, 1950, were lost for decades after Life magazine published the images in 1950 and claimed they had been misplaced. The negatives were eventually found in the files of the International News Service (part of United Press International) in 1967, during the investigation by the Condon Committee at the University of Colorado.
