Kecksburg Police Incident Logs

Type: Law Enforcement Reports

Source: Pennsylvania State Police

The Kecksburg Police and Pennsylvania State Police did not release specific "incident logs" from December 1965 that detail a physical recovery, as their official stance was that no object was found. The Air Force and State Police searched the wooded area until approximately 2:00 a.m. on December 10, 1965, but reported finding nothing unusual, with Air Force Project Blue Book records classifying the event as a meteor ("ASTRO – Case Closed").

While witnesses claimed an acorn-shaped object was removed by the military, contemporary official records and later FOIA releases indicate that no physical evidence was logged by local law enforcement or the Air Force. The Kecksburg Volunteer Fire Department chief at the time, Ed Myers, confirmed that firefighters searched the woods without locating any wreckage, contradicting later rumors of a secret retrieval.
