A circular physical trace was documented at the location identified by Renato Nicolai as the landing site. The trace was approximately two meters in diameter and included marks described as abrasions or impressions around portions of its circumference. French gendarmes photographed and examined the trace shortly after the reported event. The trace remained visible when GEPAN investigators later examined the site.
