Physical samples collected at the Voronezh UFO incident site in September 1989 included two small rocks and soil specimens from the landing oval. Initial reports by the state news agency TASS claimed these rocks were made of a substance "not found on Earth," sparking global attention.

However, subsequent investigations revealed significant discrepancies:

Rock Composition: Genrikh Silanov of the Voronezh Geophysical Laboratory later clarified that the rocks were actually hematite (iron oxide), a common mineral in the Soviet Union, stating, "Don't believe all you hear from Tass."
Soil Analysis: While early reports cited elevated radiation and silicon dioxide levels, extensive follow-up testing—including 16 radiometric analyses and 20 spectrochemical examinations—yielded no verifiable anomalies or extraterrestrial residues.
Physical Traces: Investigators documented a 20-meter landing oval with four deep indentations, but skeptics noted the park was built on a trash dump, which may have influenced soil and magnetic readings.
Ultimately, the physical evidence was retracted or explained by terrestrial geology, leaving the incident reliant primarily on eyewitness testimony from children and adults
