Recorded during the 2015 USS Theodore Roosevelt East Coast UAP encounters, the GIMBAL video was captured by the AN/ASQ-228 ATFLIR targeting pod aboard a U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet. The infrared footage shows an unidentified object flying above a cloud layer while Navy aviators discuss multiple airborne contacts and observe what appears to be a rotation of the object's infrared signature. The video became public in 2017 and was officially authenticated and released by the U.S. Department of Defense in April 2020. Although the apparent rotation remains the subject of differing interpretations, GIMBAL is considered one of the most significant publicly released military UAP videos.
