Description

This is the unedited original cassette recording made by Lt. Col. Charles Halt in the early hours of December 28, 1980, during the second night of the famous Rendlesham Forest UFO incident. Using a handheld Lanier micro-cassette recorder, Halt documented in real time what he and his men were experiencing—including unusual radiation readings, strange lights in the forest, and tree damage around an apparent landing site.

The recording is filled with gaps as Halt frequently paused the recorder to preserve tape. Despite this, the tape captures a raw and compelling slice of the investigation as it happened, spanning several hours in under 19 minutes of audio.

You will hear voices including Sgt. Monroe Nevels (operating a Geiger counter), Lt. Bruce Englund (who guided Halt to the site), and others from the USAF security team. Though Halt's later recollections vary from this recording, this tape remains a key piece of primary evidence from the case.
