George O'Barski

On January 12, 1975, George O'Barski, a 72-year-old liquor store owner, reported witnessing a UFO landing in North Hudson Park in North Bergen, New Jersey. While driving home, O'Barski observed a disk-shaped craft with bright windows hover and land in a field, emitting a low humming sound.

Approximately 10 small, hooded figures emerged from the craft via a ladder and used spoon-like tools to collect soil samples before rapidly returning to the ship, which then departed. O'Barski later shared this account with UFO researcher Budd Hopkins, who helped investigate the case.

Investigations by Hopkins and other researchers, including Ted Bloecher, uncovered corroborating evidence:

Physical Evidence: O'Barski discovered small holes in the ground the next day, and soil samples taken by investigators were found to be free of plant roots, unusual for a city park.

Eyewitnesses: A doorman at the nearby Stonehenge Apartments reported seeing a bright light and hearing a high-pitched vibration that shattered a lobby window.

Prior Sighting: Another witness, Frank Gonzalez, reported seeing a similar craft in the same location six days prior, on January 6, 1975.

The incident, often referred to as the Stonehenge Incident, is classified as a Close Encounter of the Second Kind (physical evidence) and Third Kind (beings), and was famously detailed by Hopkins in Missing Time and a 1976 Village Voice article.
