Joe Salaz was an immigrant farm worker who, along with Pedro Saucedo, reported the initial sighting in the Levelland UFO case on the night of November 2, 1957. While driving four miles west of Levelland, Texas, the pair witnessed a 200-foot-long, rocket-shaped object emitting a blue flash that passed over their truck, causing the engine to stall and headlights to dim. Salaz reportedly remained inside the vehicle due to fear while Saucedo exited to observe the craft, which emitted significant heat and a thunderous roar before accelerating away.
