Civilian Witness
Kátia Andrade Xavier (aged 22) was one of the three central witnesses in the 1996 Varginha Incident in Brazil, alongside sisters Liliane and Valquíria Silva. On January 20, 1996, the group encountered a bipedal creature in a vacant lot in the Jardim Andere neighborhood, which they described as approximately 1.5 meters tall with oily brown skin, large red eyes, and three horn-like protuberances on its head.
Xavier later recounted that the creature appeared dazed and frightened, making eye contact that she interpreted as a plea for help before she and the others fled. Her detailed testimony, along with that of the Silva sisters, became the most widely documented account of the alleged extraterrestrial encounter, contributing significantly to the case's notoriety in ufology and popular culture.
