Captain Kenji Terauchi was the pilot of Japan Airlines Flight 1628 during the 1986 Alaska UFO encounter. He reported observing a large unidentified object near his aircraft while flying over Alaska.

On November 17, 1986, Kenji Terauchi, captain of Japan Airlines Cargo Flight 1628, reported a UFO encounter over Alaska while flying a Boeing 747-200F from Paris to Tokyo. Terauchi and his crew observed three unidentified objects, described as "two small ships and a mothership," which they claimed paced their aircraft for approximately 50 minutes at altitudes between 31,000 and 35,000 feet.
