William B. Nash was a Pan American World Airways captain who, in the 1950s, publicly discussed his encounters with unidentified flying objects, most notably in the October 1952 article "We Flew Above Flying Saucers" co-authored with William J. Fortenberry.
Press Conflict: Nash wrote a 1954 letter revealing that Pan Am's Public Relations head was pressuring him to keep the airline's name out of the "Saucer business."
Public Relations Strategy: The PR executive was criticized by Nash for giving no answer on the matter while trying to stay in good with the press, leading Nash to believe the executive needed a "saucer education."
