Approximately forty feet of 16mm Kodachrome film recorded by Chief Warrant Officer Delbert C. Newhouse showing numerous bright unidentified objects maneuvering over northern Utah. The film was analyzed by the U.S. Air Force Photo Reconnaissance Laboratory and Project Blue Book.
The footage was analyzed by both the Navy and the Air Force (Project Blue Book), resulting in conflicting conclusions. The Navy found no conventional explanation, suggesting the objects were self-luminous spheres capable of extreme speeds. Conversely, the Air Force and the CIA-sponsored Robertson Panel concluded the objects were likely birds (specifically sea gulls) riding thermals, a finding Newhouse disputed. Newhouse also reported that the Air Force returned a damaged, poor-quality copy of his original film with less than half the footage intact.
