Colonel Guy Hix was the base commander at Godman Army Airfield in Fort Knox, Kentucky, during the Mantell UFO incident on January 7, 1948. He reported observing a "very white" object, described as "about one fourth the size of the full moon," which was being pursued by Captain Thomas F. Mantell.
