Jim Weiner and his identical twin brother Jack Weiner, along with friends Charlie Foltz and Chuck Rak, claimed to be abducted by aliens during a canoe trip in Maine’s Allagash Wilderness Waterway on August 20, 1976. The group reported witnessing a bright light that engulfed them in a beam, resulting in missing time as their campfire had burned down to ashes despite their short absence.
For over a decade, the men dismissed the event until Jim Weiner developed temporo-limbic epilepsy and recurring nightmares involving four-fingered beings and medical examinations. In 1988, he contacted ufologist Raymond Fowler, leading to hypnotic regression sessions where all four men provided consistent, detailed accounts of being aboard a craft and subjected to physical tests.
The case gained notoriety for the witnesses' polygraph results and the consistency of their stories, though Chuck Rak recanted his involvement in the abduction narrative in 2016, claiming it was fabricated for financial gain. Despite this recantation, Jim, Jack, and Charlie continue to affirm their experiences, maintaining that they were indeed abducted by extraterrestrial entities.
